Abstract

The communication proposes, based on the thought of Paul Evdokimov, to revisit some of the Church Fathers, including Athanasius and the Cappadocians, in reference to the articulation between Christology and anthropology. It will show that the incarnation and the theōsis are complementary. The trajectory will consist of reflecting on the condition of human beings created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1,26-27). The fall weakened the likeness, but did not delete the image which is the incorporation of the human being. The communication goes on to clarify the kenotic movement of the Son of God for humanity. In this movement it is perceived that Jesus Christ is the place of God’s humanization and of the human being’s deification. The Spirit is who, within every Christian, acts jointly with human freedom in response to the wondrous love of God. It is intended, therefore, to delve into the mystery of the incarnation in which God is not only God, but God-man and the human being is not only human, but human-divine.
