Abstract

In this paper, we will point out the general lines of Norbert Elias' sociological thinking and his connections with the historical sociology of power developed throughout his work. We hope to contribute to a possible analysis of power in contemporary societies based on their theoretical and methodological assumptions. The work of Norbert Elias allows us to think about power in a relational, structural and configurational way. Thinking power also leads us to the historical and structural reflection of institutions and individuals, providing important bases for social and political analysis.
