Abstract

This study intends to investigate the definition of the concepts of analogy and univocity, for to the adequate understanding of the theoretical instruments that Alexander of Hales, Saint Bonaventura and John Duns Scotus use in their respective metaphysical theories, that is, the use of analogous and univocal concepts of the being. With the analysis of transcendent determinations, in these authors, we will try to evidence unitary aspects between Hales and Bonaventura and unique aspects of these with Scotus metaphysics. With this, it is possible to reach partial conclusions introductory to the authors’ thinking about metaphysics understood as “scientia transcendens”.
