Abstract

This essay argue that Heraclitus could be considered a reader of Friedrich Nietzsche. This speculation rests, essentially, on Nietzsche's stylistic decision to choose his readers, on the shared experiences between the german philosopher and the greek. After that, the Heraclitus's presence in Ecce homo as the one with whom Nietzsche felt most welcomed. Finally, the most evident interest of young Basel's professor in the obscure philosopher can be seen in the time allotment he gives in his lectures of 1873. Rather than examining the conceptual alternatives, the author of The Birth of Tragedy wants to learn from the pre-platonics’s experiences, mainly with his tragic philosopher par excellence. Although the studies about the relationship between Nietzsche and Heraclitus acknowledges the obvious chronological question, this essay fables about anachronical possibilities of Heraclitus as a reader of Nietzsche.
