Abstract

This paper presents the theme of liturgical formation of the People of God as a challenge re-proposed by Pope Francis in his recent Apostolic Letter Desiderio Desideravi. The importance of the theme lies in the relevance that the Liturgy has in itself within the Church and the recent manifestation of the Holy Father regarding the consistent formation of the People of God for the liturgical life. This work aims to understand the perspective of formation behind the Apostolic Letter Desiderio Desideravi. The methodology of the work is documental and bibliographical, going through the main ecclesial documents and renowned authors who discuss the theme. From a careful study, the result was that the elements proposed by Pope Francis, for liturgical formation, drink from the conciliar sources of the Second Vatican Council, in the amazement before the Paschal mystery, having perception (experience) and formation (theory) as complementary actions and opening effective channels for liturgical formation.
