In the Eastern Christian Tradition, listening to the silence of the Word is finding oneself within the Holy Gospel. It is to self experience of the Father which is in secret (Mt, 6: 6). It is to express oneself by the unbreakable certainty that God exists. Paul Evdokimov, based on the Church Fathers, studied the mystery of the silence, associating it to the Christian Faith. In this context, he takes into account the necessity of going deep within oneself. In his view, only by self emptiness, one can assume the servant condition and the testimony of "I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me" (Gl, 2:20). Based on what was said above this paper aims at analyzing from the language perspective the influence of the concepts of "silence" in the mystical experience and then observe the movement that the latter generates in the conceptions of the former. For that matter, it is stated that the arguments used will be based especially on O silêncio amoroso de Deus by the mentioned author.
