The influence of Byzantine art in Claudio Pastro's Work

Abstract

This paper aims to present the image of Christ Pantocrator by Claudio Pastro and the facts that contributed to develop his art, particularly in this depiction, with a strong Byzantine influence. Calling himself an artist post Council Vatican II, Pastro is a pioneer in Brazil for making the Pantocrator and has conducted more than 350 works in churches, chapels, monasteries, in his own country and abroad. To demonstrate these features, in addition to the images that will be presented, will be considered remarkable influences in the formation of the artist as well as the liturgical changes of the Council which opened the way for the artist to perform his work.
